Description

These Philly Cheese Steak Sloppy Joes bring the best of both worlds – the savory, cheesy goodness of a Philly cheesesteak combined with the comforting messiness of a sloppy joe. Ground beef, sautéed vegetables, and melty provolone cheese are piled on toasted sandwich rolls for a delicious, easy-to-make dinner in just 25 minutes!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 sandwich rolls or buns
  • 8 oz provolone cheese, sliced

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
  2. Add chopped onion, bell peppers, and garlic to the skillet, cooking for 3-4 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.
  3. Stir in beef broth, soy sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the liquid reduces and thickens.
  4. Split and toast the sandwich rolls or buns.
  5. Spoon the beef and vegetable mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted roll.
  6. Top with a slice of provolone cheese and place the open sandwiches under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Remove from the broiler, cover with the top half of the roll, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • If you prefer a spicier version, add some sliced jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the beef mixture.
  • Feel free to use other types of cheese like cheddar or mozzarella for a different flavor.
  • For a lower-carb version, serve the beef mixture over a bed of sautéed vegetables or lettuce.
