Description

This Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf combines all the classic flavors of a cheesesteak sandwich into a hearty, cheesy meatloaf perfect for dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced green pepper
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, sliced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, milk, onion, green pepper, mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Press half of the meat mixture into the bottom of a loaf pan.
  4. Lay the provolone cheese slices over the meat, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. Cover with the remaining meat mixture, pressing the edges to seal.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together beef broth, ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Pour this sauce over the meatloaf.
  7. Bake for 1 hour or until the meatloaf is cooked through.
  8. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • You can substitute provolone with mozzarella or cheddar if desired.
  • For extra flavor, sauté the vegetables before mixing into the meat.
  • Use lean ground beef to reduce excess grease.
