Description
This Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf combines all the classic flavors of a cheesesteak sandwich into a hearty, cheesy meatloaf perfect for dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup diced green pepper
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup provolone cheese, sliced
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon mustard
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, milk, onion, green pepper, mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Press half of the meat mixture into the bottom of a loaf pan.
- Lay the provolone cheese slices over the meat, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Cover with the remaining meat mixture, pressing the edges to seal.
- In a small bowl, whisk together beef broth, ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Pour this sauce over the meatloaf.
- Bake for 1 hour or until the meatloaf is cooked through.
- Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- You can substitute provolone with mozzarella or cheddar if desired.
- For extra flavor, sauté the vegetables before mixing into the meat.
- Use lean ground beef to reduce excess grease.
