Description
Praline Crunch is a delightful treat that combines the rich, sweet flavor of praline with the satisfying crunch of nuts and crispy cereal. It’s a perfect snack for any occasion.
Ingredients
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
4 cups rice cereal
1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar and corn syrup. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring frequently. Once it reaches a boil, let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda. The mixture will bubble up, so be careful.
- In a large bowl, combine the rice cereal and chopped pecans. Pour the hot praline mixture over the cereal and nuts, stirring gently until everything is coated evenly.
- Spread the coated mixture onto a lined baking sheet in an even layer.
- Allow the praline crunch to cool and harden for about 30 minutes. Once cooled, break it into pieces and serve.
Notes
- Substitute pecans with other nuts such as almonds, walnuts, or cashews for a different flavor.
- You can use other cereals like cornflakes, crispy wheat cereal, or granola.
- For a chocolate variation, drizzle melted chocolate over the cooled praline crunch.
- Spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, or sea salt can be added for extra flavor.
