Description

Ingredients
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, at room temperature
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup canned pumpkin purée
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup orange juice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and coat a 9×5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray or butter.
- Make the cream cheese filling: Beat the cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, egg, and flour in a medium bowl until smooth. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, pumpkin purée, eggs, oil, and orange juice until well combined.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Pour half the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Spoon the cream cheese filling over the batter and spread evenly.
- Pour the remaining pumpkin batter on top and gently spread to cover the cream cheese layer.
- Bake for 60 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top browns too quickly, tent with foil.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
- Make sure cream cheese is at room temperature for a smooth filling.
- Don’t overmix the batter to keep the bread tender.
- Bread can be wrapped and stored at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerated for longer shelf life.
