Description
This quick beef stir-fry is a simple and flavorful dish made with tender strips of beef and fresh vegetables cooked in a savory sauce. It’s a perfect weeknight meal that’s ready in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 pound beef sirloin, cut into 2-inch strips
- 1 1/2 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 1 red bell pepper, cut into matchsticks
- 2 carrots, thinly sliced
- 1 green onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil, divided
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Cook and stir beef until browned, 3 to 4 minutes; remove and set aside.
- Add remaining tablespoon of sesame oil to the skillet. Stir in broccoli, bell pepper, carrots, green onion, and garlic. Cook and stir vegetables until just tender, about 5 minutes.
- Return beef to the skillet and stir in soy sauce.
- Whisk cornstarch and water in a small bowl until smooth; pour into the skillet. Cook and stir until sauce is thickened, about 1 minute.
- Serve hot, optionally over rice or noodles.
Notes
- You can substitute other vegetables based on preference or availability.
- For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or a splash of sriracha.
- Slice beef thinly against the grain for more tenderness.
