Description
These no-bake Rum Balls are a classic holiday treat made with crushed vanilla wafers, cocoa, powdered sugar, pecans, and spiced rum. They’re rich, chocolaty, and easy to make ahead for parties or gift giving.
Ingredients
- 11 ounces vanilla wafers, crushed (about 2 ¾ cups crumbs)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup finely chopped pecans
- ½ cup spiced rum
- 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
- Powdered sugar (for coating)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine crushed vanilla wafers, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and chopped pecans. Mix until evenly combined.
- Add the spiced rum and light corn syrup to the dry ingredients and mix well until the mixture holds together when pressed.
- Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, scoop out portions and roll into 1-inch balls using your hands.
- Roll each ball in powdered sugar to coat completely.
- Place the coated balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator. The flavor improves after a day or two.
Notes
- Use a food processor to crush the vanilla wafers for a fine crumb texture.
- For a non-alcoholic version, substitute rum with apple or orange juice.
- The flavor intensifies after a few days, making them perfect for making ahead.
- You can roll the balls in cocoa powder or finely chopped nuts instead of powdered sugar for variety.
