Description

Salisbury steak with mushroom gravy is a comforting and hearty dinner made with seasoned beef patties simmered in a rich, savory mushroom gravy. This classic family meal is flavorful, satisfying, and perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 can condensed French onion soup, divided
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon dry parsley
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1½ tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder
  • 8 ounces sliced mushrooms

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the ground beef with ⅓ cup of the French onion soup, breadcrumbs, egg, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into 6 oval patties.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the patties on both sides until nicely seared.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining French onion soup, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, flour, mustard powder, garlic powder, and water.
  5. Pour the gravy mixture over the patties and add the sliced mushrooms on top.
  6. Cover the skillet and simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through and the gravy has thickened.
  7. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, noodles, or vegetables.
