Description

Decadent layers of fudgy brownies, creamy cheesecake, salted caramel, and fluffy whipped cream create the ultimate indulgent dessert trifle.

Ingredients

  • 1 box (18-20 oz) brownie mix (plus ingredients called for on the box: water, oil, eggs)
  • 8 oz salted caramel (jarred or homemade)
  • 2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste
  • 1 cup heavy cream, whipped to stiff peaks
  • 1 cup heavy cream (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • Chocolate-covered caramels (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare the brownie mix according to package directions. Bake and allow to cool completely, then cut into small squares.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup heavy cream to stiff peaks and gently fold it into the cream cheese mixture.
  4. In another bowl, whip 1 cup heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Set aside for topping.
  5. In a trifle dish, add a layer of brownie cubes.
  6. Spoon a generous layer of the cheesecake mixture over the brownies.
  7. Drizzle salted caramel over the cheesecake layer.
  8. Repeat the layers until the dish is filled, ending with a layer of whipped cream on top.
  9. Garnish with chocolate-covered caramels. You may also layer them throughout the trifle if desired.
  10. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours, or overnight for best results.

Notes

  • Use homemade or store-bought brownies for convenience.
  • This dessert tastes better when made a day in advance.
  • Layering in a clear dish enhances presentation.
  • Add a pinch of sea salt over the caramel layer for extra flavor.
