Ingredients
- 1 box (18-20 oz) brownie mix (plus ingredients called for on the box: water, oil, eggs)
- 8 oz salted caramel (jarred or homemade)
- 2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste
- 1 cup heavy cream, whipped to stiff peaks
- 1 cup heavy cream (for topping)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- Chocolate-covered caramels (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare the brownie mix according to package directions. Bake and allow to cool completely, then cut into small squares.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup heavy cream to stiff peaks and gently fold it into the cream cheese mixture.
- In another bowl, whip 1 cup heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Set aside for topping.
- In a trifle dish, add a layer of brownie cubes.
- Spoon a generous layer of the cheesecake mixture over the brownies.
- Drizzle salted caramel over the cheesecake layer.
- Repeat the layers until the dish is filled, ending with a layer of whipped cream on top.
- Garnish with chocolate-covered caramels. You may also layer them throughout the trifle if desired.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours, or overnight for best results.
