Description
Salted Honey Pie is a rich, custardy dessert that perfectly balances the sweetness of honey with a touch of sea salt. It features a buttery pie crust filled with a creamy honey-based filling, baked to golden perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornmeal
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup honey
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Flaky sea salt, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan and crimp the edges. Set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, cornmeal, and salt until well combined.
- Add the honey and mix until smooth.
- Whisk in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the heavy cream, vinegar, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown. The center should jiggle slightly but not be liquid.
- Remove from oven and let cool to room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set completely.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt just before serving.
Notes
- Chill the pie thoroughly before slicing for clean cuts.
- Use good-quality honey for the best flavor.
- The cornmeal adds texture and helps stabilize the custard filling.
