Description

Sausage and Cheese Stuffed Bread is a golden, oven-baked loaf filled with savory Italian sausage and gooey melted cheese, making it a perfect appetizer, game-day snack, or easy family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground Italian sausage
  • 1 tube (13.8 oz) refrigerated pizza crust dough
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
  • Marinara sauce (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease and allow to cool slightly.
  3. Roll out the pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle.
  4. Evenly spread the cooked sausage over the dough, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges.
  5. Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly over the sausage. Add garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
  6. Carefully roll the dough tightly into a log, pinching the seams and ends to seal.
  7. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top with beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Remove from oven and let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
  10. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm with marinara sauce.

Notes

  • Make sure the sausage is fully cooled before adding to the dough to prevent tearing.
  • You can substitute provolone, Monterey Jack, or pepper jack cheese for variety.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the oven at 350°F for best texture.
