Description
This Semi-Homemade Tres Leches Cake is a moist and creamy dessert made with a boxed cake mix and soaked in a rich three-milk blend. Perfect for gatherings, it delivers classic Mexican flavor with minimal effort.
Ingredients
- 1 box yellow or white cake mix (plus required ingredients: eggs, oil, water)
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Whipped cream, for topping
- Fresh fruit (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare the boxed cake mix according to the package instructions and bake in a 9×13-inch pan. Let the cake cool completely.
- In a large bowl, whisk together sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, whole milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Using a fork, poke holes all over the cooled cake. Slowly pour the milk mixture evenly over the cake, allowing it to soak in. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Before serving, spread a generous layer of whipped cream over the top of the cake. Garnish with fresh fruit, if desired.
Notes
- Let the cake soak overnight for the best texture and flavor.
- Use cold whipped cream for a firmer topping.
- Customize with different fruits like berries, mango, or cherries.
