Description

This easy and delicious Shrimp Boil is a Southern classic packed with juicy shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes, all boiled in a flavorful broth. Perfect for family gatherings or casual entertaining.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs (0.6 kg) baby potatoes
  • 4 ears corn, cut into thirds
  • 14 oz (400 g) andouille sausage, sliced
  • 1 lb (0.45 kg) shrimp, deveined with shells on
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 4 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
  • Salt, to taste
  • Water
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for serving)
  • Chopped parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Fill a large pot with water, enough to cover all the ingredients. Add Old Bay seasoning, smashed garlic, lemon halves, and salt. Bring to a boil.
  2. Add baby potatoes and cook for about 10 minutes, until slightly tender.
  3. Add corn and sausage, and cook for another 5–7 minutes.
  4. Add the shrimp and cook until pink and cooked through, about 2–3 minutes.
  5. Drain the boil and transfer the contents to a large serving tray or parchment-lined table.
  6. Drizzle melted butter over the top and garnish with chopped parsley.
  7. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and extra butter, if desired.

Notes

  • You can adjust the spice level by increasing or decreasing the Old Bay seasoning.
  • Use large shrimp with shells on for best flavor.
  • Optional: Add crab legs or other shellfish for variety.
