Description
These Six-Minute Caramels are soft, chewy, and buttery caramels made easily in the microwave with just a few basic ingredients. Perfect for gifting or a quick sweet treat.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) salted butter
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper and lightly butter the paper.
- In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter, corn syrup, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and sweetened condensed milk.
- Microwave on high for 6 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes. (Watch closely to prevent bubbling over.)
- After 6 minutes, stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the hot caramel into the prepared dish and let it cool completely at room temperature.
- Once set, lift the caramel out using the parchment paper and cut into squares.
- Wrap individual pieces in wax paper or store in an airtight container.
