Description

These Six-Minute Caramels are soft, chewy, and buttery caramels made easily in the microwave with just a few basic ingredients. Perfect for gifting or a quick sweet treat.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) salted butter
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper and lightly butter the paper.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter, corn syrup, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and sweetened condensed milk.
  3. Microwave on high for 6 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes. (Watch closely to prevent bubbling over.)
  4. After 6 minutes, stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the hot caramel into the prepared dish and let it cool completely at room temperature.
  6. Once set, lift the caramel out using the parchment paper and cut into squares.
  7. Wrap individual pieces in wax paper or store in an airtight container.

Notes
