Description

These Slow Cooker Steakhouse Cowboy Baked Beans are a hearty, flavorful side dish packed with ground beef, smoked sausage, bacon, and a rich, tangy sauce. Perfect for potlucks, BBQs, or as a main meal with cornbread.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 6 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 (15 oz) cans pork and beans, undrained
  • 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, smoked sausage, and chopped bacon over medium-high heat until the beef is no longer pink and the bacon is cooked through. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add diced onion to the meat mixture and sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened.
  3. Transfer the meat mixture to the slow cooker.
  4. Add the pork and beans, kidney beans, and black beans to the slow cooker (drain and rinse kidney and black beans).
  5. Stir in barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper.
  6. Mix everything until well combined.
  7. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or on HIGH for 3–4 hours.
  8. Stir before serving and enjoy hot.

Notes

  • These beans can be made a day ahead and reheated for even better flavor.
  • Use your favorite barbecue sauce for personalized taste.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • This dish can also be served as a main course with a side of cornbread.
