Description

Smothered Boneless Pork Chops are a hearty and flavorful dish, featuring tender pork chops simmered in a savory, creamy gravy made with onions, garlic, and seasonings. It’s a comforting and well-rounded meal perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

4 boneless pork chops

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup chicken broth

1/2 cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the pork chops with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder on both sides.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the pork chops and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and garlic, stirring to coat. Cook for 1-2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.
  5. Gradually pour in the chicken broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Once the broth is incorporated, stir in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Let the sauce cook for 3-4 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  6. Return the pork chops to the skillet, spooning some of the sauce over them. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for an additional 5-7 minutes until the pork chops are tender and the sauce is thickened.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  1. You can add vegetables like mushrooms or bell peppers to the sauce for extra flavor.
  2. For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  3. If you prefer chicken, boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs work wonderfully as a substitute.
  4. To make the recipe gluten-free, use a gluten-free flour blend in place of regular flour.
