Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon matcha powder
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Nutella, as needed for filling
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, matcha powder, and salt.
- Add warm milk and vegetable oil, then knead into a smooth dough.
- Cover and let the dough rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide into equal portions.
- Flatten each portion and place a spoonful of Nutella in the center, then seal and shape into balls.
- Let the filled buns rest for 15–20 minutes.
- Arrange buns in a steamer and steam over medium heat for 10–12 minutes.
- Turn off heat and let buns sit in the steamer for 5 minutes before removing.
Notes
- Do not open the steamer lid immediately after cooking to prevent buns from collapsing.
- You can substitute Nutella with other spreads like peanut butter or red bean paste.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat by steaming.
- Sift matcha powder to avoid clumps in the dough.
