Description

Soft, fluffy fried buns with a lightly crisp exterior, perfect for enjoying plain, dusted with sugar, or filled with sweet or savory fillings.

Ingredients

  • 150 ml milk (lukewarm)
  • 70 ml water (lukewarm)
  • 7 g instant yeast
  • 12 g honey
  • 400 g all-purpose flour
  • 7 g salt
  • 30 g unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Stir the yeast into the lukewarm milk, water, and honey. Let it rest until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and butter. Knead until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  3. Cover and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 to 1.5 hours.
  4. Divide the dough into 10 pieces and shape into balls. Add filling if desired.
  5. Let the shaped dough rest for 30–40 minutes until puffy.
  6. Heat oil to 175°C (350°F). Fry the buns in small batches until golden brown.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve plain, dusted with sugar, or filled.

Notes

  • You can fill the buns with jam, chocolate, or savory fillings before frying.
  • Ensure oil temperature stays consistent to avoid greasy buns.
  • Best enjoyed fresh, but can be reheated briefly in an oven.
  • Dust with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar for extra flavor.
