Ingredients
- 2 cups dried prunes
- 2 cups water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4 cloves
- 1 strip of orange peel (from 1/2 orange, avoid the white pith)
- 1 tbsp orange juice
Instructions
- Place the prunes in a small saucepan and add 2 cups of water.
- Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, and strip of orange peel.
- Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 25-30 minutes, until the prunes are soft and the liquid has reduced into a light syrup.
- Remove from heat and stir in the orange juice.
- Let the compote cool to room temperature or serve warm, as desired.
- Remove the spices before serving if preferred.
