Description

A classic spicy arrabbiata sauce made with tomatoes, garlic, and chili for a bold and flavorful pasta topping. Simple to prepare and perfect for a quick homemade meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 red onion
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 large red chilli
  • 400 g tin tomatoes
  • 1 handful fresh basil
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • pinch salt
  • pinch pepper

Instructions

  1. Chop the onion and finely chop the garlic and chilli.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large pan and gently cook the onion, garlic and chilli until soft.
  3. Add the chopped tomatoes, including the juice, and season with salt and pepper. Stir well.
  4. Bring to the boil, then reduce heat and simmer without a lid for about 20 minutes.
  5. Stir in fresh basil and serve as is, or blend for a smooth sauce if preferred.

Notes

  • Adjust chilli quantity to control spice level.
  • Fresh basil can be added at the end for best flavor.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • This sauce pairs well with any pasta or can be used as a pizza base.
