Description
A classic spicy arrabbiata sauce made with tomatoes, garlic, and chili for a bold and flavorful pasta topping. Simple to prepare and perfect for a quick homemade meal.
Ingredients
- 1 red onion
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 large red chilli
- 400 g tin tomatoes
- 1 handful fresh basil
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- pinch salt
- pinch pepper
Instructions
- Chop the onion and finely chop the garlic and chilli.
- Heat the olive oil in a large pan and gently cook the onion, garlic and chilli until soft.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, including the juice, and season with salt and pepper. Stir well.
- Bring to the boil, then reduce heat and simmer without a lid for about 20 minutes.
- Stir in fresh basil and serve as is, or blend for a smooth sauce if preferred.
Notes
- Adjust chilli quantity to control spice level.
- Fresh basil can be added at the end for best flavor.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- This sauce pairs well with any pasta or can be used as a pizza base.
