Description

This homemade strawberry frosting is fluffy, creamy, and bursting with real strawberry flavor. Made with freeze-dried strawberries, it’s perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups freeze-dried strawberries
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk (as needed for consistency)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Place the freeze-dried strawberries in a blender or food processor and pulse until they become a fine powder. Set aside.
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the butter on medium speed until creamy and smooth.
  3. Reduce the speed to low and slowly add in the powdered sugar, beating until fully incorporated.
  4. Add the strawberry powder and vanilla extract to the mixture and beat until combined.
  5. If the frosting is too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons of milk until the desired consistency is reached.
  6. Increase the mixer speed to medium-high and beat the frosting for 2–3 minutes until light and fluffy.

Notes

  • Use freeze-dried strawberries, not fresh or frozen, to avoid watering down the frosting.
  • This frosting is ideal for piping onto cupcakes or spreading on cakes.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
