Description

This refreshing homemade strawberry lemonade is made with fresh strawberries, lemon juice, and a simple syrup. It’s the perfect summer drink that’s easy to make and bursting with fresh flavor.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water (for the simple syrup)
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (from about 46 lemons)
  • 1/2 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 45 cups cold water (to dilute)
  • Ice (for serving)
  • Lemon slices and fresh strawberries, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved completely. Remove from heat and let cool. This is your simple syrup.
  2. In a blender or food processor, puree the strawberries until smooth.
  3. Pour the strawberry puree through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher to remove seeds (optional).
  4. Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice and the cooled simple syrup to the pitcher with the strawberry puree.
  5. Add 4 to 5 cups of cold water, depending on how strong or sweet you like your lemonade. Stir to combine.
  6. Taste and adjust water or sugar as needed.
  7. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  8. Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices and fresh strawberries if desired.

Notes

  • You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less simple syrup.
  • Use bottled lemon juice only if fresh lemons are not available for best flavor.
  • Make ahead of time and store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • For a fizzy version, replace some water with sparkling water just before serving.
