Description
This refreshing homemade strawberry lemonade is made with fresh strawberries, lemon juice, and a simple syrup. It’s the perfect summer drink that’s easy to make and bursting with fresh flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water (for the simple syrup)
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (from about 4–6 lemons)
- 1/2 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
- 4–5 cups cold water (to dilute)
- Ice (for serving)
- Lemon slices and fresh strawberries, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved completely. Remove from heat and let cool. This is your simple syrup.
- In a blender or food processor, puree the strawberries until smooth.
- Pour the strawberry puree through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher to remove seeds (optional).
- Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice and the cooled simple syrup to the pitcher with the strawberry puree.
- Add 4 to 5 cups of cold water, depending on how strong or sweet you like your lemonade. Stir to combine.
- Taste and adjust water or sugar as needed.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices and fresh strawberries if desired.
Notes
- You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less simple syrup.
- Use bottled lemon juice only if fresh lemons are not available for best flavor.
- Make ahead of time and store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- For a fizzy version, replace some water with sparkling water just before serving.
