Description
Strawberry sorbet is a refreshing, fruity treat that’s perfect for a hot summer day or as a light, dairy-free dessert. It’s naturally vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free, offering a smooth and icy texture with the natural sweetness of ripe strawberries.
Ingredients
4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
1 cup water
3/4 cup granulated sugar (or to taste)
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
Instructions
- Place the strawberries in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth.
- In a small saucepan, combine the water and sugar over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sugar dissolves, creating a simple syrup. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- Once the syrup has cooled, mix it into the strawberry puree, then add the lemon juice. Stir well to combine.
- Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a sorbet-like consistency (this typically takes 20-30 minutes).
- Transfer the sorbet to a lidded container and freeze for at least 2 hours to firm up.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 1-2 weeks.
- Allow sorbet to sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften before scooping.
- If sorbet becomes too hard, you can use a spoon to break it up or return it to the ice cream maker for a few minutes to restore its smooth texture.
