Description

This super moist chocolate chip banana bread is a soft, tender, and flavorful quick bread packed with ripe bananas and melty chocolate chips. It’s easy to make in one bowl and perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a snack.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips, plus extra for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
  3. Stir in the melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gently fold until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Fold in most of the chocolate chips, reserving some for topping.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips on top of the batter.
  8. Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas with lots of brown spots for best flavor and sweetness.
  • Do not overmix the batter to avoid a dense loaf.
  • This recipe can be made as muffins—bake for 18–22 minutes.
  • To freeze, wrap tightly and store in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.
  • Dark, white, or peanut butter chips can be used instead of regular chocolate chips.
  • For added texture, stir in 1/2 cup chopped nuts or shredded coconut.
