Description

Craving a sweet treat? These Air Fryer Churro Bites are perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, coated in a warm cinnamon-sugar blend. Quick, easy, and healthier than deep-frying, these churros bring all the deliciousness of the classic dessert with minimal oil. Perfect for a snack or dessert, enjoy them fresh in just 18 minutes!

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup water

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for the batter)

1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water, butter, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Bring to a simmer over medium heat until the butter melts.

  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

  3. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring constantly until a smooth dough forms. Let the dough cool for a few minutes.

  4. Preheat the air fryer to 370°F (188°C).

  5. Once the dough has cooled slightly, transfer it to a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped tip.

  6. Grease the air fryer basket lightly or line it with parchment paper. Pipe small 1-2 inch long dough pieces into the basket, leaving space between each.

  7. Air fry at 370°F (188°C) for 6-8 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.

  8. While the churro bites cook, mix 1/4 cup of granulated sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl.

  9. Once cooked, immediately toss the churro bites in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until well coated.

  10. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  1. Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
  2. Reheating: Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 2-3 minutes to restore crispiness.
  3. Variations: Add chocolate sauce for dipping or make them gluten-free by substituting the flour. For a spicy twist, add a pinch of cayenne to the cinnamon-sugar.
