Description
A rich and comforting sweet potato casserole topped with a buttery brown sugar and pecan crumble. Perfectly sweet and satisfying for holiday meals.
Ingredients
- 4 cups mashed sweet potatoes
 - ½ cup white sugar
 - 2 large eggs, beaten
 - ½ teaspoon salt
 - 4 tablespoons butter, softened
 - ½ cup milk
 - ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
 - ½ cup packed brown sugar
 - ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
 - 3 tablespoons butter, softened
 - ½ cup chopped pecans
 
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
 - In a large bowl, mix together the mashed sweet potatoes, white sugar, beaten eggs, salt, 4 tablespoons of softened butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well combined.
 - Pour the sweet potato mixture into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
 - In a medium bowl, prepare the topping by mixing together the brown sugar and flour. Cut in 3 tablespoons of butter until mixture is crumbly, then stir in the chopped pecans.
 - Sprinkle the topping evenly over the sweet potato mixture.
 - Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the topping is lightly browned.
 
Notes
- You can prepare the sweet potato mixture ahead of time and refrigerate until ready to bake.
 - For extra texture, leave small chunks in the mashed sweet potatoes instead of making it completely smooth.
 - Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the sweet potato mixture for a warm spice note.
