Thai Basil Beef Rolls combine savory seasoned ground beef with crisp vegetables and fragrant Thai basil, all wrapped in soft rice paper for a fresh, flavorful dish that’s quick, customizable, and perfect for weeknight meals or appetizers.
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1/2 cup thinly sliced bell peppers
- 1/4 cup green onions, sliced
- Fresh Thai basil leaves
- 8–10 rice paper wrappers
- Optional: sliced chili peppers or chili flakes
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Add minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in soy sauce and hoisin sauce. Simmer for 2–3 minutes to absorb flavors.
- Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.
- Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Dip one rice paper wrapper for 10–15 seconds until soft.
- Lay the wrapper flat and place basil leaves in the center. Add a spoonful of beef, carrots, bell peppers, and green onions.
- Fold in the sides and roll tightly from the bottom up to seal.
- Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
- Serve immediately with sweet chili sauce, peanut sauce, or soy-lime dipping sauce.
Notes
- Substitute ground chicken or turkey for a lighter option.
- For a vegetarian version, use crumbled tofu or finely chopped mushrooms.
- Add cucumber, bean sprouts, or shredded cabbage for extra crunch.
- Do not over-soak rice paper to prevent tearing.
- Store rolls with parchment paper between them to avoid sticking.
- Reheating is not recommended; assemble fresh for best texture.
