Description

A classic meatloaf recipe made with ground beef, breadcrumbs, and a tangy ketchup-based topping. It’s simple, comforting, and perfect for a family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup dry breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon mustard (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and prepare a baking sheet with foil or a loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, eggs, breadcrumbs, diced onion, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and milk. Mix until well combined but do not overmix.
  3. Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it on the baking sheet or press it into the loaf pan.
  4. In a small bowl, mix ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread this mixture evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  5. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees F.
  6. Allow meatloaf to rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the meat to avoid a dense meatloaf.
  • Letting the meatloaf rest helps retain its juices when sliced.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure doneness at 160°F.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
