Description
A classic meatloaf recipe made with ground beef, breadcrumbs, and a tangy ketchup-based topping. It’s simple, comforting, and perfect for a family dinner.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup dry breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup yellow onion, diced
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup ketchup (for topping)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar (for topping)
- 1 tablespoon mustard (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and prepare a baking sheet with foil or a loaf pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, eggs, breadcrumbs, diced onion, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and milk. Mix until well combined but do not overmix.
- Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it on the baking sheet or press it into the loaf pan.
- In a small bowl, mix ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread this mixture evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees F.
- Allow meatloaf to rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Do not overmix the meat to avoid a dense meatloaf.
- Letting the meatloaf rest helps retain its juices when sliced.
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure doneness at 160°F.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
