Description

These healthy fudgy cocoa brownies are rich, chocolatey, and made with wholesome ingredients for a lighter yet indulgent dessert.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup white whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil, melted
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the coconut oil, egg whites, and vanilla extract.
  4. Stir in the maple syrup and Greek yogurt until fully combined.
  5. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk into the wet mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just incorporated.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the center is just set.
  8. Cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares and serving.

Notes

  • Do not overbake to maintain a fudgy texture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • You can substitute almond milk or oat milk for regular milk.
  • Add dark chocolate chips for extra richness if desired.
