These healthy fudgy cocoa brownies are rich, chocolatey, and made with wholesome ingredients for a lighter yet indulgent dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 cup white whole wheat flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp coconut oil, melted
- 2 large egg whites
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the coconut oil, egg whites, and vanilla extract.
- Stir in the maple syrup and Greek yogurt until fully combined.
- Alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk into the wet mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just incorporated.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the center is just set.
- Cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares and serving.
Notes
- Do not overbake to maintain a fudgy texture.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- You can substitute almond milk or oat milk for regular milk.
- Add dark chocolate chips for extra richness if desired.
