Description

Tiramisu Cake is a luscious dessert that combines the classic flavors of traditional tiramisu with the layered elegance of a sponge cake. Coffee-soaked cake layers are filled with mascarpone cream and topped with cocoa powder for a rich, creamy treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee
  • 2 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 16 oz mascarpone cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together cake flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
  4. In a saucepan, heat the milk and butter until the butter melts. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture, then slowly mix in the warm milk mixture until smooth.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let the cakes cool completely on wire racks.
  8. Brew the espresso or coffee and mix with coffee liqueur if using.
  9. In a chilled bowl, beat mascarpone, heavy cream, and powdered sugar together until stiff peaks form.
  10. Slice each cake horizontally to make four thin layers.
  11. Place one layer on a serving plate, brush with coffee mixture, and spread a layer of mascarpone cream.
  12. Repeat with remaining layers, ending with cream on top.
  13. Dust the top with unsweetened cocoa powder.
  14. Chill for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.

Notes

  • For alcohol-free version, omit the coffee liqueur.
  • Use decaf coffee for a kid-friendly version.
  • Chill the mixing bowl and beaters before whipping cream for best results.
  • The cake is best served chilled.
  • Can be made a day in advance for deeper flavor.
