A simple and flavorful tomato sauce made from tinned tomatoes, perfect for a quick pasta meal. Smooth, aromatic, and ready in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 red onion
- 4 cloves garlic
- 400 grams tin tomatoes
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon tomato purée
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon red wine
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped red onion and minced garlic, and cook until softened and fragrant.
- Add the tinned tomatoes, Italian seasoning, tomato purée, and red wine. Stir well and let the sauce simmer uncovered for about 15 minutes.
- Blend the sauce using a hand blender until smooth. Serve with pasta.
Notes
- You can omit the red wine or replace it with a splash of vegetable stock.
- Add a pinch of sugar if the tomatoes taste too acidic.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
- Enhance flavor with fresh basil or grated cheese when serving.
