Description

A simple and flavorful tomato sauce made from tinned tomatoes, perfect for a quick pasta meal. Smooth, aromatic, and ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 red onion
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 400 grams tin tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon tomato purée
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon red wine

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped red onion and minced garlic, and cook until softened and fragrant.
  2. Add the tinned tomatoes, Italian seasoning, tomato purée, and red wine. Stir well and let the sauce simmer uncovered for about 15 minutes.
  3. Blend the sauce using a hand blender until smooth. Serve with pasta.

Notes

  • You can omit the red wine or replace it with a splash of vegetable stock.
  • Add a pinch of sugar if the tomatoes taste too acidic.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
  • Enhance flavor with fresh basil or grated cheese when serving.
