Ingredients

  • 1 loaf day-old bread, cubed
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp dried sage
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp dried rosemary
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Toast the cubed bread in a large skillet over medium heat until lightly crisped, then set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, melt butter with olive oil. Add onion and celery, cooking until softened.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add dried herbs, salt, and pepper, mixing well.
  5. Pour in broth and bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Add toasted bread cubes and stir until the liquid is absorbed and the stuffing is moist.
  7. Cook for a few more minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through.
  8. Finish with fresh parsley and adjust seasoning before serving.
