Soft and chewy Valentine Sugar Cookie Bars topped with creamy pink buttercream frosting and festive sprinkles. These easy-to-make bars are perfect for Valentine’s Day parties, gifts, or a sweet homemade treat.
Ingredients
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
- 2–3 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
- Pink or red food coloring
- Valentine sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Mix until combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 18-22 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Do not overbake.
- Allow bars to cool completely before frosting.
- For the frosting, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, then mix in cream and food coloring until smooth and fluffy.
- Spread frosting evenly over cooled bars and top with Valentine sprinkles.
- Slice into squares or rectangles and serve.
Notes
- Do not overbake to keep the bars soft and chewy.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
- You can substitute almond extract with additional vanilla if preferred.
- Chill before cutting for cleaner slices.
