Description

This creamy white pizza sauce is rich, flavorful, and easy to make. It’s the perfect base for white pizzas, offering a garlicky, cheesy flavor that pairs beautifully with a variety of toppings.


Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups half and half (or equal parts milk and heavy cream)
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt, or to taste
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper, or to taste
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
  3. Whisk in the flour and cook for another 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly to form a roux.
  4. Slowly add the half and half, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
  5. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for a few minutes until thickened.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in the grated parmesan cheese until smooth and melted.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before using as a pizza sauce.

Notes

  • This sauce thickens as it cools, so don’t worry if it’s a bit thin at first.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
