Description
This creamy white pizza sauce is rich, flavorful, and easy to make. It’s the perfect base for white pizzas, offering a garlicky, cheesy flavor that pairs beautifully with a variety of toppings.
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 garlic cloves, finely minced
- 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cups half and half (or equal parts milk and heavy cream)
- 1/4 tsp sea salt, or to taste
- 1/8 tsp black pepper, or to taste
- 1/4 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for another 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly to form a roux.
- Slowly add the half and half, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for a few minutes until thickened.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat and stir in the grated parmesan cheese until smooth and melted.
- Allow to cool slightly before using as a pizza sauce.
Notes
- This sauce thickens as it cools, so don’t worry if it’s a bit thin at first.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
- Great base for white pizza with toppings like chicken, spinach, or mushrooms.
