Description

This sweet potato casserole is a classic holiday side dish featuring creamy mashed sweet potatoes topped with a crunchy pecan and brown sugar streusel. Perfect for Thanksgiving or any festive gathering.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups mashed sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the mashed sweet potatoes, white sugar, beaten eggs, salt, 4 tablespoons butter, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Transfer to the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a medium bowl, prepare the topping by mixing brown sugar and flour. Cut in 3 tablespoons butter until the mixture is coarse and crumbly. Stir in chopped pecans.
  4. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the sweet potato mixture.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the topping is lightly browned.
