Description
These air fryer churros are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and coated in cinnamon sugar. Served with a rich hot chocolate dip, they make an easy and delicious dessert for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cooking spray
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar for coating
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a simmer.
- Remove from heat and stir in the flour until a smooth dough forms.
- Allow the dough to cool for 5 minutes, then mix in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Pipe churro strips onto parchment paper and lightly spray with cooking spray.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Air fry the churros in batches for 10–12 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
- Mix the cinnamon and sugar together in a shallow bowl and coat the warm churros evenly.
- For the chocolate dip, heat the heavy cream until warm and pour over the chocolate chips. Stir until smooth.
- Serve the churros warm with the hot chocolate dip.
