Description
A cool, creamy Greek tzatziki sauce made with yogurt, cucumber, garlic, and fresh herbs. Perfect as a dip, spread, or refreshing accompaniment to many dishes.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups thick whole milk Greek yogurt
- 1/2 large cucumber, grated
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 garlic clove, grated
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt, plus more to taste
Instructions
- Grate the cucumber and place it in a clean kitchen towel. Squeeze out as much excess water as possible.
- In a medium bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, dill, and salt.
- Stir well until fully combined and creamy.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed, adding more salt or lemon juice if desired.
- Chill for at least 15 minutes before serving for best flavor.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, strain the yogurt before mixing.
- Fresh mint can be used in place of or alongside dill.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Serve with pita, grilled vegetables, or as a sauce for wraps and bowls.
