Description
Brazilian Limeade is a creamy, sweet-tart drink made with fresh limes and sweetened condensed milk. This refreshing beverage is frothy, citrusy, and perfect served ice cold on a hot day.
Ingredients
- 4 limes
- 3 cups water
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 3 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
- Ice, for serving
- Extra lime slices, for garnish
Instructions
- Scrub the limes thoroughly with dish soap, rinse well, and dry. Cut off the ends and discard them. Slice the remaining limes into eighths.
- Place the lime pieces and water into a blender. Pulse a few times for a few seconds until the limes are roughly broken down but still chunky. Do not over-blend or the drink may become bitter.
- Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing the solids with a spoon to extract all the liquid. Discard the pulp and peel pieces.
- Return the strained liquid to the blender. Add the sugar and sweetened condensed milk. Blend until smooth, creamy, and frothy.
- Taste and adjust sweetness if desired. Pour over ice and garnish with fresh lime slices before serving immediately.
Notes
- Do not over-blend the limes or the peel can make the drink bitter.
- Serve immediately for the freshest flavor and frothy texture.
- Adjust the sugar depending on the tartness of the limes.
- For a dairy-free version, use sweetened condensed coconut milk.
