Ingredients
- 200 g unsalted butter
- 200 g granulated sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 250 g all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 120 ml milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a cake pan.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown and develops a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- In a bowl, whisk together the sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
- Add the browned butter and vanilla extract to the mixture and combine well.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool before removing from the pan and serving.
Notes
- Do not overcook the butter; it should be golden, not burnt.
- You can add chopped nuts or chocolate chips for variation.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature.
- Serve with powdered sugar or a light glaze for extra sweetness.
