Description
These cheeseburger sliders are juicy, cheesy, and baked to perfection on soft Hawaiian rolls, making them perfect for parties or family meals.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 pounds ground beef (80/20)
- 1 yellow onion, peeled and small diced (about 1 to 1 ½ cups)
- 3 garlic cloves, finely minced
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce (optional)
- ½ pound shredded mild cheddar cheese
- 6 slices American cheese
- 1 pack sweet Hawaiian rolls, sliced in half (kept attached)
- 1 large dill pickle, thinly sliced (optional)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- Salt and freshly cracked pepper to taste
- Aioli, ketchup, or mustard for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook while breaking it apart until browned. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add diced onions, lightly season with salt, and sauté over medium heat for 4–5 minutes. Reduce heat to low and cook for 10 minutes until tender and browned. Stir in garlic and cook for 30–45 seconds.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Add Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, and half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Stir until the cheese is melted and everything is combined. Adjust seasoning if needed.
- Place the bottom half of the Hawaiian rolls into a 13×9-inch baking dish. Layer the American cheese slices evenly over the buns.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly over the cheese layer. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese on top and add sliced pickles if using.
- Place the top half of the buns over the filling. Brush the tops with reserved pan drippings or melted butter.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds evenly over the tops and cover the dish with aluminum foil.
- Bake for 20 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 20 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops are lightly toasted.
- Serve warm with aioli, ketchup, or mustard for dipping.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
- Keep buns attached for easier assembly and serving.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
- Add lettuce and tomato after baking for extra freshness.
