Description
These cheesy cauliflower steaks are roasted until golden and tender, then topped with melted mozzarella for a flavorful vegetarian side or light main dish. Simple seasonings and parmesan create a savory, crispy finish.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 head cauliflower
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Optional fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven or air fryer to 400° F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, parmesan cheese, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Remove the leaves from the cauliflower while keeping the stalk intact. Slice the cauliflower in half, then slice each half again to create steaks.
- Place the cauliflower steaks on the prepared baking sheet and brush all sides with the seasoned oil mixture.
- Bake for about 20 minutes or air fry for about 15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the cauliflower is fork tender and golden brown.
- Remove from the oven or air fryer and sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the steaks.
- Return to the oven or air fryer for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.
Notes
- Use freshly grated parmesan for the best flavor and texture.
- Cauliflower steaks may break apart slightly; smaller florets can still be roasted alongside the steaks.
- For extra crispiness, broil the steaks for 1 to 2 minutes after adding the cheese.
- Serve with marinara sauce, ranch dressing, or a side salad for a complete meal.
