Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups plain yogurt (dairy-free works too)
- 1/2 cup Dutch or regular cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup sweetener of choice
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- Optional: 1/3 cup peanut butter or almond butter
- Optional add-ins: chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or 1 mashed banana
Instructions
- Add the yogurt, cocoa powder, salt, sweetener, vanilla extract, and optional nut butter to a large bowl or blender.
- Mix or blend until completely smooth and well combined.
- Transfer the mixture to an ice cream machine and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions, or pour into a chilled airtight container.
- If using a container, freeze and stir every 30 minutes for 2 to 3 hours until creamy and frozen.
- Serve immediately for the creamiest texture. If frozen solid, let thaw for about 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Dairy-free yogurt works well for a vegan-friendly version.
- Add chocolate chips, nuts, or banana for extra flavor and texture.
- Homemade frozen yogurt is creamiest on the day it is made.
- Allow leftovers to soften slightly before scooping and serving.
