Description
Soft and fluffy individual dinner rolls, perfect for serving alongside any meal. These Greek-style bread rolls have a light texture and a golden crust.
Ingredients
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 7 g dry yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 300 ml lukewarm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 egg (for brushing)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the lukewarm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until activated.
- Add the flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Divide the dough into small equal portions and shape into rolls.
- Place the rolls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- You can sprinkle sesame seeds or herbs on top before baking for extra flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
- Freeze baked rolls for longer storage and reheat before serving.
- Use whole wheat flour for a healthier variation, adjusting water as needed.
