A flavorful homemade doner kebab wrap packed with seasoned oven-baked meat, crisp vegetables, and creamy sauce wrapped in warm flatbread. This easy version delivers classic street-food flavor right from your kitchen.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef or lamb
- 1 small onion, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp coriander
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 large flatbreads or wraps
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 1/2 cucumber, sliced
- 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a loaf pan or baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine ground meat, onion, garlic, paprika, cumin, oregano, coriander, black pepper, salt, and olive oil. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Press the meat mixture firmly into the prepared pan and bake for 35 to 40 minutes until fully cooked and browned around the edges.
- Allow the meat to rest for 10 minutes, then slice thinly into strips.
- In a small bowl, whisk together yogurt, lemon juice, and mayonnaise to make the sauce.
- Warm the flatbreads and fill each with sliced doner meat, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red onion, and sauce.
- Wrap tightly and serve immediately.
Notes
- Lamb gives a more traditional doner flavor, but beef works well too.
- Add chili sauce or pickled vegetables for extra flavor.
- The cooked meat can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
- Serve with fries or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
