Description
A bright and tangy cranberry sauce made with fresh cranberries, orange juice, and zest, perfect for holiday meals or as a refreshing side.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar or honey
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
- Generous pinch of salt
- Orange zest of 1/2 an orange
- 12 oz bag of fresh cranberries
Instructions
- Place the sugar, water, and orange juice in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil while stirring frequently.
- Reduce the heat to medium and let the mixture simmer for a few minutes.
- Add the orange zest, cranberries, and salt. Stir well to combine.
- Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking, until cranberries reach desired consistency.
- Remove from heat, allow to cool, and serve.
Notes
- Honey can be used instead of sugar for a more natural sweetness.
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar to taste.
- Sauce thickens further as it cools.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
