Description

Ingredients

  • 5 ounces dark chocolate (broken into pieces)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 4 cups ice
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • Chocolate sauce, hot fudge, shaved chocolate curls, chopped nuts, caramel sauce, sprinkles (optional garnishes)

Instructions

  1. Place the dark chocolate, sugar, cocoa powder, instant coffee granules, and 1 cup of milk in a small saucepan. Warm over medium heat, stirring constantly until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth. Do not allow it to boil.
  2. Remove from heat and pour the mixture into a blender. Add the remaining 1 cup of milk, vanilla extract, and ice.
  3. Blend until smooth and frothy.
  4. Pour into glasses and top with whipped cream and desired garnishes. Serve immediately.
