Ingredients
- 5 ounces dark chocolate (broken into pieces)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups whole milk
- 4 cups ice
- Whipped cream (optional)
- Chocolate sauce, hot fudge, shaved chocolate curls, chopped nuts, caramel sauce, sprinkles (optional garnishes)
Instructions
- Place the dark chocolate, sugar, cocoa powder, instant coffee granules, and 1 cup of milk in a small saucepan. Warm over medium heat, stirring constantly until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth. Do not allow it to boil.
- Remove from heat and pour the mixture into a blender. Add the remaining 1 cup of milk, vanilla extract, and ice.
- Blend until smooth and frothy.
- Pour into glasses and top with whipped cream and desired garnishes. Serve immediately.
