Description

These meringue nests are light, crisp, and elegant with a soft marshmallow-like center. Filled with whipped cream and colorful toppings, they make a festive dessert perfect for celebrations and dessert tables.

Ingredients

  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp white vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • Fresh berries
  • Mini chocolate eggs or candy decorations
  • Optional sprinkles or shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 225°F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean mixing bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add the sugar while continuing to beat until the mixture becomes thick, glossy, and stiff.
  4. Fold in the cornstarch, vinegar, and vanilla extract gently.
  5. Spoon or pipe the meringue onto the prepared tray, shaping each portion into a nest with a small indentation in the center.
  6. Bake for about 1 hour, then turn off the oven and let the meringues cool completely inside the oven with the door slightly open.
  7. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  8. Fill each cooled meringue nest with whipped cream.
  9. Top with berries, mini chocolate eggs, or your favorite decorations before serving.

Notes

  • Add lemon zest to the whipped cream for a fresh citrus flavor.
  • Use chocolate whipped cream for a richer dessert.
  • Top the nests with mango, kiwi, or passion fruit for a tropical twist.
  • Add shredded coconut for a more nest-like appearance.
  • Store unfilled meringue nests in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • Once filled with cream, refrigerate and serve within 24 hours.
  • Avoid humidity to keep the meringues crisp.
