Description

A classic Greek orange cake known as 1-2-3-4, named after its simple ingredient ratios. Moist, fragrant, and easy to prepare, it’s perfect for everyday baking.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the vegetable oil, orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract, and mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until smooth.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  7. Bake for 35–40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool before slicing and serving.
