Description
Elegant roasted fig tartlet appetizers featuring caramelized figs paired with creamy herbed goat cheese in crisp phyllo cups.
Ingredients
- 10 Mission figs
- 1/4 tsp cracked black pepper
- 1 – 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp sherry or brandy or bourbon
- 8 oz goat cheese, softened (226 grams)
- 2 tbsp chopped chives
- 2 – 4 tbsp whipping cream
- 2 tsp lemon zest
- Cracked black pepper to taste
- 20 mini phyllo cups, baked
- Extra honey for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F and line a quarter sheet pan with parchment paper.
- Trim stems from figs and cut each in half lengthwise. Place on the prepared pan.
- Drizzle figs with honey and sherry, then sprinkle with cracked black pepper. Toss gently to coat.
- Roast for 20 to 30 minutes until figs are soft and caramelized. Remove and let cool.
- In a bowl, mix goat cheese, chives, whipping cream, lemon zest, and cracked black pepper until smooth and pipeable.
- Transfer the goat cheese mixture into a piping bag.
- Arrange phyllo cups on a serving tray.
- Pipe goat cheese filling into each cup.
- Top each with a roasted fig half and drizzle with extra honey before serving.
Notes
- Roasted figs can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- Goat cheese filling can be made ahead and stored for up to 2 days.
- Assemble tartlets just before serving to maintain crispness.
- A star piping tip adds a decorative finish, but is optional.
