Description

This simple sautéed cabbage is tender, lightly caramelized, and full of savory flavor. It’s an easy and healthy side dish that pairs well with a variety of meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 small head green cabbage, shredded
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the shredded cabbage, salt, and pepper, and toss to combine.
  5. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10–15 minutes until the cabbage is tender and lightly browned.
  6. Stir in the apple cider vinegar and cook for another 1–2 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  • You can substitute red cabbage for a slightly sweeter taste.
  • Add cooked bacon or sausage for a non-vegetarian variation.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
