Description

Tender, warmly spiced slow cooker apples sweetened with maple syrup, perfect as a cozy side or dessert. Easy to prepare and naturally delicious.


Ingredients

  • 3 pounds apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, Fuji, or a mix, peeled and sliced)
  • 1/4 cup apple juice
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon tapioca flour (or cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water)

Instructions

  1. Add sliced apples to the slow cooker.
  2. Pour in apple juice, then sprinkle maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt over the apples. Stir gently to coat.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high for 1 1/2-2 hours, until apples are tender but still hold their shape.
  4. Stir once halfway through cooking, if possible.
  5. Once apples are cooked through, stir in vanilla and the tapioca slurry, then let it heat for 5-10 minutes.
  6. Stir and serve warm, or let apples cool and store in the refrigerator or freezer.

Notes

  • Use a mix of apple varieties for deeper flavor.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less maple syrup.
  • Serve over oatmeal, pancakes, or yogurt.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
